Brief info

Elder Samuel J. Deal was born in Salisbury, Maryland as the third of six children to the Pastor Porter R. Deal (deceased) and Mother Louise Deal, Jurisdictional Supervisor Maryland Eastern Shore Jurisdiction (deceased). He graduated from James M. Bennett Sr. High School, and attended Morgan State College (now University), graduating magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics. Elder Deal is also a graduate of the Maryland Bankers’ School and holds a Law Degree (J.D.) from the University of Baltimore.

Upon graduating from Morgan State, Elder Deal was employed by The Equitable Trust Bank, (which later merged with Maryland National Bank, and is now Bank of America) for over 18 years, serving as Branch Manager and Commercial Loan Officer. In 1991, he joined The Harbor Bank of Maryland, where he served for 14 years in several different capacities as part of the bank’s senior management team. Elder Deal also managed the bank’s two community development corporations (CDCs), and currently serves as a senior consultant to the bank and the CDCs.

Elder Sam Deal is the President of his own consulting firm – iDEAL Consultants – which provides consultation services to financial institutions, and co-founder of Renaissance Equity Partners, LLC (REP), a boutique investment banking firm, which specializes in providing financing assistance to community development projects. Additionally, over the past 19 years, Elder Deal has taught Finance courses at MSU, where he is currently Faculty Advisor to the MSU Finance Club.

Elder Deal’s family originally attended the Holy Temple COGIC in Salisbury, Maryland under Bishop James L. Eure, Sr.(deceased). His father, Elder Porter Deal, would later establish St. Michael COGIC in Princess Anne, MD. It was at his father’s church during a revival conducted by Elder George Fletcher (deceased) that Brother Sam Deal accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior, just before going off to college. Then, in a revival conducted by Elder Timothy Bouknight at the Maryland COGIC, both Elder Sam Deal and his wife, Pam Deal, received the gift of the Holy Ghost.

Bro. Sam Deal served in the Maryland COGIC under Pastor Stafford B. Sutton, Sr. as a Deacon for many years before becoming a Minister, and finally receiving his ordination by Bishop David W. Spann, Sr. (deceased) on March 3, 1998. In addition to being Finance Officer, a member of the Trustee Board and Choir, Elder Deal was the Sunday School Superintendent at Maryland Church, Elder Deal also still serves as Assistant Sunday School Superintendent for the Greater Maryland First Jurisdiction COGIC.

Elder Deal is married to First Lady/Deaconess Missionary Pamela J. Deal. They are the proud parents of two children, Jaraed J. Deal and Robyn J. Porter, and have four Grandchildren: Evan, Ava, and Lillian Porter (Robyn) and Takara Deal (Jaraed).
